Homily for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity delivered at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Batlimore, MD.
Catholics learn to begin and conclude prayers with the Sign of the Cross, invoking the three persons of the Holy Trinity. We cover ourselves with God's presence, recognizing his presence upon each of us, even as we acknowledge differences in gender, ethnicity, education, etc. God's creation is marked by diversity, particularly in color. This is what brings creation alive and is cause for celebration!
Bigotry or racism based on abhorrence for those differences is sinful in failing to recognize the dignity of each human person. We can and must build bridges with those who are different from us, heeding the words of St. Paul to be encouragers of one another.
